Surgical safety has been listed as the annual goal of “Medical Quality and Patient Safety” for more than 10 years. In preoperative, intraoperative, and even postoperative stage, there are a large number of procedures and safety checks. In the past few years, among the types of errors in hospital surgery incidents, errors in patient identification and surgical location accounted for nearly 10%. Therefore, V5 and Chung Shan Medical University Hospital have cooperated to develop the world’s first identification technology suitable for medical environment, based on biometric technology to improve patient safety in the operating room.
The operating procedure of the hospital is divided into five parts:

- Access control identification at the control room of operating room
- Patients check-in and identity verification
3. Surgery preparation waiting area
